Week of January 28-February 1

Monday - Return final exams.

Homework - None.

Tuesday - Intro to Unit 3: Audacity.

Homework - Read Dan rather's chapter "Audacity" from What Unites Us and answer one of the questions on the unit introduction sheet.  Be ready to share in class discussion Friday.

Wednesday - Snow day.

Homework - Read Dan rather's chapter "Audacity" from What Unites Us and answer one of the questions on the unit introduction sheet.  Be ready to share in class discussion Friday.

Thursday - Snow day.

Homework - Read Dan rather's chapter "Audacity" from What Unites Us and answer one of the questions on the unit introduction sheet.  Be ready to share in class discussion Friday.

Friday - Discuss Rather chapter and unit intro continued.

Homework - For Monday, write down 3 possible junior theme topics you're interested in and complete the freewrite packet.  Remember that each topic should be something that's relevant to Americans today.  It can be a source of discussion, controversy, or something that you think should be discussed in our country.  If the google document from our work in November is helpful, feel free to use it.

Week of January 14-18

Monday - Discuss O Pioneers!

Homework - 1.) If you want to rewrite your unit 2 essay, it's due Tuesday, January 15th.  You must do the following: meet with Mr. Lawler, staple your new draft on top of your old draft, and highlight your revisions.  If you make substantive revisions, you may earn a 1/2 grade to 1 grade improvement.   2.) Finish O Pioneers! for Wednesday.  3.) In preparation for our exam, read the excerpt from William Egginton's The Splintering Of The American Mind for class on Friday.  On a sheet of paper, answer these three questions: 1 - "What argument do you think Egginton is making about America in 2018?  2 - What's one passage that you believe concisely captures his argument?  3 - What's one passage from the reading that you find confusing?"  

Tuesday - "Joy."
